About the Role

Glen Eden Intermediate School is seeking a dedicated, empathetic, and collaborative Learning Support Coordinator (LSC) to join our vibrant middle school community.

The LSC plays a vital role in ensuring all Year 7 and 8 learners with additional needs—including neurodiverse students, those requiring targeted literacy/numeracy support, and students needing pastoral assistance—receive the tailored support required to thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify & Assess: Early identification of learning, behavioral, physical, and socio-emotional needs across Years 7 and 8.
  • Coordinate Interventions: Design, manage, and monitor targeted support strategies and learning interventions alongside classroom teachers and learning assistants.
  • Collaborate & Engage: Work closely with whānau, external agencies (Ministry of Education, Oranga Tamariki, health specialists), and school leadership to create cohesive Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Build Teacher Capability: Coach and support teaching staff to implement inclusive classroom strategies and differentiated learning pathways.
  • Data & Tracking: Maintain accurate learning support registers and track the impact of learning interventions.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Registered Teacher with a current NZ Practising Certificate.
  • Proven experience in learning support, inclusive education, or specialized learning interventions.
  • Strong understanding of adolescent development (Years 7 & 8) and diverse learning needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven track record of building positive, culturally responsive relationships with tamariki, whānau, and colleagues.
